Before you start modding Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you should make sure you have a legal copy of the game ready to install. If you don't own the game yet, you can pick up a copy from Steam, GOG, Epic Games or Xbox. We recommend a version of the game that includes all DLC as some mods may not work without it.
In order to run mods with the game, your hardware should at least meet the minimum requirements system requirements. You will also need some additional hard drive space to account for the additional mod files and downloaded archives.

Before you install the game, we recommend that you have Steam installed outside of the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders, or have created a Steam library somewhere away from these locations. If you are playing with a GOG/Epic/Xbox version, be sure to simply pick a folder outside of the Program Files folders when installing. This will prevent your system security software from intefering with your modding experience.
For the best experience and fastest load times, your game should be installed on an SSD (or NVME) drive.
Before you start modding, make sure to run the game at least once by either starting it from the game store or double clicking the launcher executable in the game folder.
The best place to go to get mods for Kingdom Come: Deliverance is Nexus Mods. Once you have registered a free account you'll have access to all available mods and more.
Mods are usually distributed as zip archives. They need to be unpacked into the Mods/
subfolder of the game install folder (each mod will have it’s own folder inside Mods/
folder). If you installed the game from MS store, instead unpack the mods into My Documents/kingdomcome_mods
.
You can optionally place a mod_order.txt
file in the Mods/
folder. If you do this, only mods listed in this file will be loaded, in the order they are listed. The file should contain names of folders containing mods, exactly one per line. If a mod_order.txt
file doesn’t exist, mods will be loaded in alphabetical order.

To install a ReShade preset, you'll first need to install the ReShade application to your game. Then simply place the .ini
and other files in the game folder to apply them. To remove the preset, just remove the files.
As a general rule, you should only use a single ReShade preset at any one time.
