In this guide we'll be taking a look at Localization in the context of KCD2.
Localization information in KCD2 is stored in PAK Files in the game's Localization directory. If you open this folder in Windows Explorer you'll see several of these for the various languages that the game supports:
These PAK files contain the game's localization strings and data for the corresponding language, such as dialogue lines, item names, descriptions, and more. We can open these PAK files with any regular archive or compression tool, like WinRar or 7-Zip, after which we'll find a number of XML files inside.
These XML files are logically divided and separated into specific areas, as indicated by their file names.
Although there are a number of localization PAKs, you'll find the same set of XML files inside.
The following table provides an inventory of the localization XML files and their contents, as of KCD2 version 1.1.1.0.
