Before modding, it's recommended that you back up the

file. If you forget to do this and there are any issues, you'll need to re-verify the game via Epic/Steam.
The easiest place to find mods for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is Nexus Mods. Once you have registered a free account you'll have access to all available mods.
Note: You should install mods either with Vortex or manually using SMPC Modding Tool, using both may causing conflicts.
Download Add Suits to New Slots tool. Drag and drop the .suit mod you want to install onto the tool. If it asks for you to choose a folder, choose asset_archive folder inside the games folder.
Mods for Spider-Man are in the .smpcmod
filetype, and requires the SMPC Tool to install. There are currently two mod managers that you can use, one being the SMPC Tool itself, the other being Vortex which relies on the SMPC Tool to apply the mods, but will show you when there are file conflicts, and allows for the Vortex mod downloading. Vortex requires a SMPC patch, which you can find below.
Name | Summary | Vortex Patch |
---|---|---|
SMPC Tool | Spider-Man PC Modding Tool | N/A |
Vortex | The official mod manager of Nexus Mods. | Link |
One mod manager you can use is Vortex, the official mod manager from Nexus Mods. You can download Vortex here. Once Vortex has installed, simply locate Spider-Man remastered in the "Games" section and click on the tile to start modding it. You will need to download the extension, if Vortex doesn't do this automatically install the extension from here.
Vortex will start by guiding you through the installation of SMPC Modding Tool, which is used on the "back end" to apply and remove mods. The tool is run automatically when you add/remove mods from the Vortex.
You will then be able to add any mods from the Nexus Mods website using the "Vortex" button in the top-right of any mod page. Alternatively you can drag and drop files into the Mods section to install manually.
Vortex incluides the following features to make your modding experience easier:
Another mod manager you can use is the SMPC Modding Tool, the modding tool for Spider-Man PC. You can download the Spider-Man PC Modding Tool here.
First thing's first, open the SMPC Modding Tool. It'll ask you to set your Asset Archive Folder. Navigate to the asset_archive folder in your game's install folder ...\steamapps\common\Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered\asset_archive
and click save, you'll never have to do this again.
Download the mod(s) you wish to install, and extract the zip/rar to a folder on your PC. The extracted folder should contain a file with the extension .smpcmod
. These are the files used to modify the game.
Installing mods is very simple. All you have to do is open the mod manager in SMPC Tool, add your .smpcmod file, click the checkbox, and click install mods.
Uninstalling is equally as easy, uncheck the mod you want to uninstall and click install mods once again. You can also remove mods from the list.
Mod load order is also important, and will determine which assets are loaded first/last. The mods at the top of the list are loaded first, and will be overridden by any mods afterward. So, if you have a mod that changes the mask and the gloves on the advanced suit, and then install another mod after that one that just changes the gloves, the mask from the first mod will appear, and the gloves from the second mod will appear. This is useful for mods that include add-ons, such as optional variant textures.
Once the Modding Tool reports the process is complete, simply start the game to play with mods.
