LEX is comprised over over 30 tools. In the toolset they are divided into 6 categories. These are:
Conditional Editor is used to create and edit ME3 / LE3 .CND files. Conditional files control story moments by checking for specific combinations of plot events.
Dialogue Editor is a visual tool used to edit in-game conversations for OT and LE.
FaceFX Editor is LEX's highly-simplified version of FaceFX Studio, the software used to create facial animations and lipsync. With this tool you can edit FaceFX AnimSets (FXEs) for OT and LE.
Mount Editor allows you to create or modify Mount.dlc files, which are used to set global properties for DLC for ME2, ME3, LE2 and LE3 (such as the mount ID, DLC name etc)
Package Editor is LEX's general purpose editing tool for Unreal 3 package files across all games. Edit files in a single window with easy access to external tools within the toolset when editing certain properties.
Pathfinding Editor allows you to modify pathing nodes so squadmates and enemies can move around a map. You can also edit placement of several different types of level objects such as StaticMeshes, Splies, CoverSlots and more.
Plot Editor is used to examine, edit and search plot maps in OT and LE for quests, state events and codex entries.
Sequence Editor is the toolset's version of Ureal Development Kit's UnrealKismet. With this cross-game tool, you can edit and create new kismet sequences that control gameflow within and across levels.
TLK Editor is a tool that allows you to modify localised text strings, located in TalkTable (TLK) files. These files are embedded in package files for ME1/LE2 and are stored externally in ME2/3 and LE2/3.
TLK Manager manages loaded TLK files that used to display string data in editor tools. You can also use it to extract and recomplile TLK files.
Animation Viewer allows you to preview any animation in ME3 / LE3.
Interp Editor is a simplified version of Ureal Development Kit's Matinee Editor. It loads interpdata objects and displays their children as tracks on a timeline, allowing you to visualize the game content associated with a specific scene.
AFC Compactor can compact your ME2 or ME3 AFC (Audio File Cache) files by removing unreferenced chunks. It can also be used to reduce or remove AFC dependencies so users do not have to have DLC installed for certain audio to work.
Audio Localizer allows you to copy the AFC offsets and filenames from localized files to your mod's LOC_INT files.
Sound Explorer is a tool that allows you to extract and play audio from all 3 games, as well as replace audio directly in LE2 and ME3.
Wwise Graph Editor currently has no editing functionality. It can be used to help vialize the relationships between HRC objects as well as their connection to WwiseEvent and WwiseStream exports.
Mesh Explorer loads and displays all meshes within a file in OT or LE. The tool skins most meshes with its associated textures.
TFC Compactor can compact your DLC mod's TFC (Texture File Cache) files by removing unreferenced chunks and compressing the referenced textures. It can also be used to reduce or remove TFC dependencies so users do not have to have DLC installed for certain textures to work.
Animation Importer allows you to import/export AnimSequences from/to PSA and Ureal Development Kit,
Coalesced Compiler converts between XML and BIN formats for coalesced files. These are key game files that help control a large amount of content.
Dialogue Dumper is a utility for dumping conversations strings from the trilogy into an excel file. It shows the actor that spoke the lines and which file the line is taken from. It also produces a table of who owns which conversation, for those that the owner is anonymous.
DLC Unpacker allows you to extract ME3 (original only, not LE) DLC SFAR files, allowing you to access their contents for modding. This unpacker is based on MassEffectModder code, which is very fast and is compatible with the ALOT texture mod.
Package Dumper is a utility for duimping package information to raw text files that can be searched with tools like GrepWin. Names, Imports, Exports, Properties and more are dumped.
Scans games and creates a database of classes, animations, materials, textures, particles and meshes. Individual assets can be opened directly from Asset Database into related LEX tools for editing.
HEX Converter is a utility that converts among floats, signed/unsigned intergers, and hex code in big/little endian.
Live Level Editor allows you to preview the effect of property changes to Actors in-game to reduce iteration times. It also has a Camera Path Editor, which lets you make camera paths quickly.
