Before you start modding Monster Hunter World, you should make sure you have a legal copy of the game ready to install. If you don't own the game yet, you can pick up a copy from Steam. We recommend a version of the game that includes the Iceborne DLC as some mods may not work without it.
In order to run mods with the game, your hardware should at least meet the minimum requirements system requirements. You will also need some additional hard drive space to account for the additional mod files and downloaded archives.

Before you install the game, we recommend that you have Steam installed outside of the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders, or have created a Steam library somewhere away from these locations. This will prevent your system security software from intefering with your modding experience.
For the best experience and fastest load times, your game should be installed on an SSD (or NVME) drive.
Once you have installed the game, you should be able to find it under Steam\steamapps\common\Monster Hunter World\
. Before you start modding, make sure to run the game at least once by either starting it from Steam or double clicking the MonsterHunterWorld.exe
executable in the game folder.

If you prefer to install your mods by hand, you will need to ensure you have Stracker's Loader installed before using any NativePC mods and ReShade installed to use ReShade presets.
In order to unlock the full potential of NativePC mods, you'll need to install Stracker's Loader. Once you have downloaded the archive file from Nexus Mods, you'll see two .dll
files, a .json
file on the top level along with a NativePC folder.
To install the loader, simply extract the contents of the archive to the game folder. If you do this correctly, loader.dll
should be in the same folder as MonsterHunterWorld.exe
.
The loader is automatically run when you start the game. If you're not using a mod manager, make sure you check back frequently for any updates to the loader especially after the game has been updated.
Once you have Stracker's loader installed. You'll be free to add any NativePC mods you desire. In most cases, the downloaded archive for the mod will contain a NativePC folder at the top level, simply extract this folder into the game folder to install, overwriting any files as prompted.
To uninstall mods, you need to locate the files and folders you added during installation and delete them. If you overwrite files from the base game, you may also need to reverify your game with Steam before it will run correctly.
To install a ReShade preset, you'll first need to install the ReShade application to your game. Then simply place the .ini
and other files in the game folder to apply them. To remove the preset, just remove the files.
As a general rule, you should only use a single ReShade preset at any one time.
