Modding, like game design, is comprised of a few classic disciplines:
- Level Design (use the editor to place objects and apply logic)
- Music Composition and Sound Design (create music and sound to apply to the game)
- 3D art and animation (improve/alter or expand the objects and textures available to the base game, includes character art and environment art)
- Concept Art (visualize new ideas and prepare 3D and writing)
- Writing (conceptualize a story that Level Design and Implementation can use to create new experiences)
- Implementation (bring together new and altered assets to create new content)
- Voice Acting (to synchronize the text the characters say and intonate them with a real voice)
For the moment, we do not have details on the new to be released editor by Bethesda to use for mods. However, it might be a good reference to look at older games of Bethesda, developed in a similar engine. You may want to have a look at the CREATION KIT page, should you be interested in learning ahead of the official release, how their software usually was modded.
