To assist with bug reports for both the base game and mods it's important that you are able to provide the version of the game you are playing, along with the name of the game store you got it from (e.g. Steam or Xbox Game Pass).
¶ Finding the game version in game
The quickest and most easily accessible way to access the game version on any platform is to check the Settings menu.
- Load up Starfield to the main menu.
- Click "Settings".
- Take note of the version number in the bottom left of the screen.
¶ Finding the game version on Steam (PC)
There is an alternative method of finding your game version on Steam.
¶ Check the Executable version
The Starfield executable (.exe) file contains the version of the game in its metadata.
- Open the game instllation folder.
- Locate Starfield.exe.
- Right-click and open "Properties".
- Head to the "Details" tab and look for "Product Version".
¶ Finding the game version on Xbox Game Pass (PC)
There is an alternative method of finding your game version on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
¶ Check the app manifest file
The app manifest file for games installed through Xbox Game Pass for PC contains some version information, however, this may not always be accurate.
- Open the game installation folder. (If you see a folder called "Content" open it)
- Locate the file called
appmanifest.xmland open it with a text editor. - Towards the top of the file locate the "Identity" tag and look for the "Version" attribute (example below).
